| This department offers clinical services wherein management of patients with dermatological problems, sexually transmitted diseases and leprosy is done. Areas of special focus and expertise are contact dermatitis, photo dermatology and cosmetic and dermatologic surgery.
The common day-to-day surgical procedures carried out in the department include skin biopsies for diagnosis of skin diseases and electrodessication and cryotherapy in the treatment of common and benign skin tumours like common warts and keloids. Chemical peeling is also regularly done on an outpatient basis. Some of the advanced surgeries which are carried out include punch grafting and blister grafting for leukoderma, hair transplantation for male baldness, dermabrasion for acne (pimple) scarring and split thickness grafting for chronic leg ulcers.
